Mococoa is a chocolate company and one of the major sponsors for the OmniCam Corporation. It first appeared in the 1998 film The Truman Show.

Overview[]

The Mococoa chocolate company were the producers of their signature line of supposedly all-natural instant powder hot chocolate beverages, which company advertising claimed was made with all-natural cocoa beans that were shipped from the upper slopes of Mount Nicaragua, further adding that it contained no artificial sweeteners, was low fat and even sugar free.

Mococoa served as one of many key sponsors for the incredibly popular but highly controversial reality television series The Truman Show by Mr. Christof of the OmniCam Corporation.

History[]

As with many of the show's sponsors, their various products were placed around the artificial island-sized studio set of Seaheaven Island along the usual routes of the show's titular and captive star, Truman Burbank.

Mococoa was the last item "purchased" by Truman's faux wife. When Truman confronted his supposed wife about her true nature and that of his reality, she tried to quickly change the subject by advertising Mococoa hot coco, which did nothing to diffuse Truman's anger and in fact escalated it as he began to realize that all she ever did was promote products, naturally pushing him over the edge and causing him to grab her and demand answers.

Following Truman's escape from Christof's clutches however, it is likely that all sponsors withdrew their support from The Truman Show.
