InfiniDim Enterprises was an opportunistic Vogon-run company that managed the publication, distribution and rebranding of the interplanetary travel guides known as The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It made its first appearance in the 1992 book, Mostly Harmless.

Overview[]

The company was quite corrupt and business-minded as with most Vogon ventures, what with the Vogons being the most beuracratic and emotionless species in the galaxy, and their sole-reason for acquiring the rights to the publishers of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was to increase their own influence and run it like a proper business while also gaining control over the readers of the Guide. Upon acquisition, they completely transformed the former publishers and even changed the aesthetic and brand name of the book to suit their own bland tastes.

The company was headquartered on Ursa Minor, having corrupted the planet following its acquisition. They also had offices on Saquo-Pilia Hensha, a planet well known for its festivities honoring St. Antwel and it was here where they moved Megadodo Publications following their takeover of the company.

Editor-in-Chief[]

The company was run by its editor-in-chief and executive publisher, the Vogon known as Zarniwoop Vann Harl who desired to get the Guide "off its feet" and increase its overall sales appeal while cutting down on manufacturing costs, with Harl also wanting to change the guide's target market from hitchhikers to affluent businessmen. As a Vogon, he had to answer to Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz, leader of all Vogons.

Employees[]

The company employs a vast force of Vogons, the most emotionless and bureaucratic species in the galaxy who manage the company with obnoxious levels of efficiency and needless paperwork. The company also briefly had on its staff the Betelgeusian researcher, Ford Prefect who served as a food critic for one of the company's imprints. The company also employed a series of security bots supplied by Sirius Cybernetics Corporation.

Featured in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Megadodo Publications was a publishing company who served as the original publishers of the popular Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, until the events of Mostly Harmless where the company was bought out by InfiniDim Enterprises.

Overview[]

Megadodo was known for its less than stellar reputation and even their Guides and method of obtaining information were scrutinized. The Megadodo lobby was also known for being filled with grubby-looking hitchhikers waiting to complain about the Guide's many inaccuracies.

Staff[]

Prior to the buy-out, Megadodo's former head and editor-in-chief was Stagyar-zil-Doggo, a very homicidal being who had laser-guided guns lining the walls of his office and who readily fired upon any writers who dared to enter his office without any new contributions or finished outlines for the Guide. This fear-inducing management ultimately led to the company having a high output rate until he was ultimately replaced by the Vogon, who regarded him as under-structured, over-resourced, under-managed and over-inebriated.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy[]

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (or simply the Guide) was a highly popular travel guide and Megadodo's most well known publication which went on to even supplant the Great Encyclopaedia Galactica in popularity despite its many inaccuracies and shorter content thanks in part due to it being cheaper, easier to digest and for the friendly "DON'T PANIC" reminder inscribed on its cover.

Bankruptcy[]

The company went bankrupt following Ford Prefect stealing executive Zarniwoop's credit card and using it in the Domain of the King Bar & Grill to rack up an incredibly enormous bill which bankrupted InfiniDim Enterprises. When asked for comment, Ford simply said "screw them."
