Dry Cleaning By Hawthorne was a dry cleaning business started by the hermit crab Hawthorne.

History[]

One of Hawthorne’s many business schemes that he comes up on the fly. Although his friend Filmore questioned whether fish had a need for a dry cleaning business, the sea turtle hired Hawthorne’s services to dry cleaning some private clothing articles.

In regard to privacy, Hawthorne assured Fillmore that his business maintained the utmost confidentiality, although after browsing through Filmore’s things, he took it back as there was no guarantee on the Spider-Man underwear.

Business soon boomed for the dry cleaners so much so that Hawthorne needed to hire help. He offered Sherman the Shark a job, though Sherman was hesitant to accept affraid that this new development, having Hawthorne as his boss, could ruin their friendship. Fortunately Hawthorne did not consider Sherman as a friend so the shark was willing to accept.

The business was not without any complications, as it was sadly revealed that Sherman proved to be inept at dry cleaning, shrinking Fillmore’s scarf into a towelette. And while doing a load for Mrs. Robbins, Hawthorne and Sherman found a mini spear gun in one of her coats, and pictures of both of them with targets. Hawthorne seeing a death threat, believed it was prudent to give the lady 15% off.

In the end Hawthorne realized that dry cleaning business was not for him. Needing to get out without losing his investment, the crab not so subtly suggested to a certain disgruntle employee to burn the plac down so he could collect the insurance money. Although Sherman being dense took a while to get the point, forcing Hawthorne to yell at him to get to it.

Later when the fire marshal arrived to investigate, the official was confused how an underwater business caught fire, and was mighty suspicious. However Hawthorne asked why would they even need a fire marshal. Seeing his point, the fire marshal agreed to keep quiet so long as Hawthorne kept quiet.
