The Church of the Naked Truth was a cult of nudists that was based in a region in southern France.
Overview[]
The monastery which the cult based itself in, has a colorful history of being the home of many previous heretical cults…from the Cathars who were butchered in the thousands by Simon de Montfort at the orders of Pope Innocent III, as well as Gnostics, Manicheists, and even Nestorians. Each sect preaching g religious freedom and were put down by the sword.
In a more civilized age the monastery is now home to the new religion, the Church of the Naked Truth, a placid cult of nudists who only wish to be left along to practice their gentle creed in peace.
A central tenet of the Church’s beliefs is that all articles of clothes are offensive to their Lord.
History[]
The monastery of the Church of the Naked Truth had unexpected guests when Mister Sensitive and Iron Man came crashing from the sky, having come to the area searching for the scattered brains of the mutant Doop. They fought over the remains destroying the premises until they were stopped by His Nakedness demanded that they respect their holy ground. On the matter of their search His Nakedness agreed to tell them the location of the Doop’s remains unless they were naked.
The two adventurers then removed their armor and continued to battle each other out with air natural, each disadvantaged due to their extremely sensitive nerves.
Meanwhile His Nakedness conspired with a criminal named Surrender Monkey to sell the remains for a profit to benefit the Church. His Nakedness agreed that the two slip away while the adventurers battled it out. However Surrender Monkey insisted His Nakedness transgress a bit to be decent to meet the buyer for the brains.
When His Nakedness changed into clothes, one of his flock witnessed him, causing him to tell the others in the Church, angered that the man had defied their order’s central belief. They fell upon His Nakedness and Surrender Monkey as a mob, tearing at their clothes in the courtyard where Mister Sensitive and Iron Man were fighting. Seeing the brain and the two men calling for help, the two agreed to halt their fight and equip their armor to deal with the mob. Just as Iron Man placed his armor he collapsed as Mr. Sensitive used pressure points to incapacitate him. Though having earned his respect, Mister left the bar in with Iron Man, letting him win.
As for the cult it continued to flourish briefly until it broke into factions: the Ironists and Sensitives.
