History[]
When the famed heroic caballero, the Cisco Kid paid a visit to Mesquite in search of his missing sidekick Pancho, he discovered that his good friend had been framed for murder and bank theft and when a mob came to lynch him, Cisco and the sheriff stood by to defend him, and during the chaos discovered that the culprit who framed Pancho was the local crooked bank manager and gang leader, Vince Pringle in order to mask his criminal activities and remove the sheriff from office while he was at it.
To help Pancho get out of his jam, Cisco and the sheriff staged a fake shootout between them and an "escaped" Pancho in front of the Allen Brothers Hardware store, to fool Vince into thinking Pancho had really escaped and use him as a scapegoat for another robbery, this time at the Palace Saloon, which is exactly the kind of stunt Cisco and the sheriff were hoping for, allowing them catch Pringle in the act later that night and freeing Pancho of all charges.
Trivia[]
- The store is a reference to the 1920's country music duo, Austin Allen and Lee Allen, aka "The Allen Brothers".
